100 Days Project

I am back with a new art project called the “100 Days Project”. The idea initially was not just my own, my friends and family remarked that I was steering off of my goals and everything was becoming too robotic and I could feel it. This made me take a few steps back and rethink ways to revive my art. I was looking for a way to challenge myself in a way I hadn’t since Art48 (my very first art project, check it out if you haven’t). They coaxed me to take some time off of the tasks that were making my career all that tedious and focus on what made me love my job in the first place. So, with that advice, this current initiative has bloomed into what it is.

Starting from May 23rd 2019, I am going to paint continuously for 100 days following and I am more excited than ever. While that is true, mentioning that this isn’t nerve-wracking would be a lie, but having my husband working in his office, ten steps away from me, comforts me greatly. The difference between my previous projects and this particular one is that as a person, I feel like I changed a lot, no longer are the days where I stayed up all night in my bedroom to paint. That kind of time is impossible to find nowadays with adulting and such. A lot more responsibilities than it was with just single me and my paint-covered self. Although being an adult has its own benefits like finally having a dream art studio to work in.

Why is it 100 days you might be wondering? Well, I thought having a specific time frame would allow me to have more discipline and produce better results. It’s just a way to enjoy my work without procrastination or anything else distracting me. The project is primarily going to focus on seven different subjects with seven different mediums and here’s a sneak peek… *drum roll*

The first subject of this art project is going to be a tribute to Mrs. M. S. Subbulakshmi. You might have already seen a few pieces I had painted of her in my earlier projects. I have had this idea for a long time now, as an admirer of her voice and her passion towards Carnatic music and the artform, I wanted to explore more of this particular theme and go deeper than just scratching the surface.
